Qualities of a Good Marijuana Strain

Of course, a great cannabis hybrid should have excellent genetics that makes it desirable to cultivate.

It means having several qualities that make it a top choice for most growers, most of the time – Easy to Grow, Grows Fast, High Potency, and High Yield.

1. Easy to Grow

It is the dream strain of every cannabis grower. Having an easy growing plant helps reduce a lot of time and effort in tending to it, as well as fewer expenses.

As such, this refers to plants from hardy strains that are resistant to almost any type of stress.

4 Recommended Hardy Cannabis Strains

The following strains are specially bred to be easy to grow. As such, they are highly immune to various stresses that could weaken the plants.

Blue Cheese Strain

This strain is resistant to common stresses such as pests, mold, and over or under-watering. Also, it can grow well even in tight spaces such as in grow boxes with LED lights. Aside from being easy to grow, Blue Cheese is also high-yielding and has a short flowering time.

When it comes to biology, this strain is Indica-dominant. Thus, it delivers a heavy body high. As such, people use it to relieve pain and stress at the end of the day.

Blue Dream Strain

It is not only famous but also easy to grow. As such, it is ideal for first-time growers. Specifically, it thrives even in the presence of typical cannabis plant problems such as root rot and powdery mildew.

Blue Dream is also high-yielding and has a short flowering time of 7-9 weeks. With its sweet berry aroma, this Sativa-dominant strain is the perfect daytime treat.

Northern Lights Strain

What makes this one stand out besides its legendary effects is that it has less odor than other strains. For privacy reasons, this makes it easier to keep and tend. Northern Lights is also very hardy, potent, and yields a lot of buds within 7-9 weeks.

This highly-acclaimed strain comes from pure Indica, so its effect is very relaxing. Furthermore, its purple buds have a sweet and spicy aroma that a lot of people love.

Papaya

This Indica-dominant strain hybrid thrives well in stressful conditions, and flowers within eight weeks. As such, we don’t have to worry about giving it too much attention. And just like its name, it smells a lot like papaya.

2. Grows Fast

Of course, a fast-growing cannabis plant provides buds in the shortest possible time. This quality is desirable to growers. When it comes to getting a quick harvest, there is nothing like auto-flowering strains. With these, we can collect the buds within 6-9 weeks from seed.

4 Recommended Rapid-Growing Strains

Choose any of these outstanding hybrids to get buds earlier than usual. Here are some of the fastest-growing strains.

Auto Lemon OG Haze

It takes only four weeks for this strain to be harvested, making it one of the fastest-growing cannabis plants. Equally impressive are its effects on the mind and body. Smoking this citrus-smelling strain usually results in a deep, calm focus. For most people, this helps them to be more productive during the day.

Auto Sour Diesel

It is one of the most potent auto-flowering plants and is ready for harvest in just 7-9 weeks. A lot of people may get turned off by its strong diesel odor, but don’t be fooled by it. Even with the sourness, it comes with a strong psychedelic effect that results in deep relaxation. This is also a surprisingly high-yielding strain when it is pruned and trained.

Blue Automazar

When it comes to relaxation, this strain is the top pick among consumers. Aside from being ready for harvest within 7-9 weeks, it’s also a high-yielding auto-flowering plant.

Green Crack

Few strains can compare with Green Crack when it comes to the mental buzz that it provides. It has a tangy, fruity flavor that a lot of consumers say reminds them a lot of mangoes.

When it comes to cultivation, this pure cannabis strain is easy to grow, unlike other Sativas. But most importantly, it has a quick flowering time and can also produce decent yields.

Important Reminders

Before choosing any of these strains, take note of some special reminders to grow them well. First, these strains don’t need special light periods as they can flower all by themselves. But they need full attention during the first weeks. That is because they grow incredibly fast, so any earlier problems will be hard to correct. As a result, we may get small yields or buds with low potency. In contrast, if proper care is given, they can produce a lot more buds with 1% or higher CBD level.

3. High Potency

Some strains possess top notch strength that they win a few cannabis awards. After that, they usually become best-sellers and gain a good reputation. Here are some of the award-winning plants that enjoy legendary status.

4 Recommended Highly Potent Strains

If potency is the priority, then look no further. Here are some Cannabis Cup winners that we can plant in our own grow rooms.

This 2014 award-winning hybrid is such a potent strain that consumers look far and wide for it. Known also as GG strain, it has a pungent and sour earthy aroma that delivers intense euphoria and relaxation.

Jack Herer

Sensi Seeds created this world-famous strain, which is also called the “champagne of strains.” Faithful to its description, Jack Herer is the perfect combination of both the Sativa and Indica genes. As such, it can give full-body relaxation with a very intense high.

Unfortunately, this strain can be a little difficult to tend, and it only produces average yields. Thus, it is best suited for connoisseurs. As such, growers who look for high-yields will be disappointed with this strain.

Sour Diesel

The original strain has very potent mind-altering and long-lasting effects. It is what makes the sour-smelling strain so popular among consumers.

When it comes to growth, it tends to stretch and thin out. As a result, Sour Diesel usually produces only a few buds. To manage this problem, growers must top and train this plant to get high yields.

Once properly pruned, the buds it produces can be very high in THC. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to grow. For this reason, many connoisseurs to try to make a new version of this strain that is easier to cultivate.

White Widow

An authentic award-winning strain, the White Widow keeps impressing cannabis judges and connoisseurs. Because it uplifts and increases the happiness of consumers, it has become the main attraction in many dispensaries. It is also the best-seller in Dutch coffee shops since its birth in the 90’s.

This strain is also easy to tend and produces flower within four weeks indoors. However, it is not high-yielding, which increases its value even more.

For some, the most important trait of a marijuana plant is its ability to produce as many buds as possible.

4. High Yield

4 Recommended High-Yielding Strains

Growers will never get frustrated with these strains come harvest time. Here are some of the most prominent examples.

Cinex

With a flavor that ranges from earthy to citrusy, this strain sure produces a lot of buds. Due to its Sativa and Indica combination, it provides creative energy while also providing a remedy for pain and depression.

Growers mostly like this strain for its yield, but it is also quite easy to grow. It also flowers just within 7-9 weeks.

Pure Power Plant

For a relaxing effect in social settings, most consumers prefer to use this strain. Known also by others as PPP, this high-yielding plant is the top pick among connoisseurs who like to enjoy a good smoke with friends. However, it can leave users stuck on the couch.

Easy to grow both outdoors and indoors, this strain starts to flower within 8-10 weeks.

Wonder Woman

This incredible strain with strong Indica effects produces huge, dense buds. For example, one plant yields about 12 ounces of buds if given the right care.

Aside from its bountiful yields, this strain is also known for the long-lasting buzz it provides. It is also quite resilient to stress. On average, it flowers within 9-11 weeks.

Utopia Haze

A lot of growers get surprised by just how fast and tall this strain grows. In fact, it can outgrow its space overnight once it enters the vegetative stage.

When it comes to potency, the THC concentration of this Sativa-dominant hybrid can go up to 22%. As a result, it gives a truly vivid “high” that some users crave.

Bonus: 3 Top Dispensary Strains

It is possible to get the best strains from local dispensaries where marijuana is legal. However, growers should prepare their pockets since they can be on the expensive side. Still, it is worth every penny to invest on these following hybrids.

Girl Scout Cookies

This Cannabis Cup awardee is in so much demand that it quickly sells out in dispensaries. Because of its euphoric and full body relaxation effects, this strain is highly-rated by users.

Girl Scout Cookies Strain BUY GSC SEEDS

When it comes to cultivation, it takes 9-10 weeks for Girl Scout Cookies to start flowering. Unfortunately, it is low-yielding, and a can be tough to grow.

Blue Cheese

Blue Cheese is one of the most popular strains for many reasons. This remarkable plant can produce a lot of dense buds while growing in less than ideal environments.

It is also quite potent with a very high THC level, as well as having a decent amount of CBD. Usually, users get an ultra-relaxing high that leaves them stoned.

LA Confidential

This hybrid is probably the most distinct strain here. A lot of consumers like the way it tastes and smells, which is smooth and piney. But what makes this strain stand out is its memorable “mind-blowing” effect. Among patients, they seek LA Confidential to help them deal with both acute pain and insomnia.

LA Confidential Strain BUY LA CONFIDENTIAL

When it comes to cultivation, many growers pick this multiple award-winning cannabis mostly because of its qualities. Also, it produces a lot of buds, grows fast, easy to tend, and is quite potent.

Nothing guarantees a successful marijuana growth than starting with the best strain. Then, finding the best seed can make a world of difference when it comes to cultivating cannabis. But because there are thousands of them out there, careful research is needed to choose the right one.

Go to cropking seeds they will deliver all over the world

The most i waited was 3 days from crop king seeds very large variety discreet shopping

Have you heard of Google? Apparently you just type in a question and it gives you the answer immediately

Hey Jason,
CropKing is in BC Canada. Their White Widow auto is amazing. If you do get it don’t fertilize but maybe once and a small dose. Very sensitive to over fertilizing, produces goofy buds of one tiny calyx per node, very tall with hollow stems. If you let it alone, in good soil, FF Ocean & Forest, one time quarter strength nutes, 1/4 tsp per gallon, at 3rd week, viola! The yield for a 2×2 tent 280 LED 5 gallon cloth pot was about 2.5 Oz dried, cured and manicured. I’d say it’s about 20-25%, 3 months tops. If the leaves start yellowing fairly early in flower don’t worry. That strain will have all leaves yellow before it’s ready, and so many colors will appear, red, pinks, purples, golds, by far the easiest plant I’ve ever grown. No worry about light cycles, never saw any mold, the hairiest buds I’ve ever seen. The buds are made for bud pornography. The only thing is the strain is a little unstable. Some plants have a lower calyx to leaf ratio, but their leaves make up for it with very frosty trichs. The other phenotype is low on lead high on flower with braids of red hairs.

The Easiest Cannabis Strains to Cultivate

There is a school of thought that suggests that cannabis strains are effectively the same. In reality, it is a case of sativa and indica strains not necessarily producing the effects they are ‘supposed’ to. Marijuana strains are not all created equal! There is weed blessed with top-shelf genetics and Mary Jane that is ‘middle of the road.’

There are strains with excellent resistance to mold, disease, pests, and drought, and weed that needs fewer nutrients than others. There are also marijuana strains ideal for novice growers because they are more forgiving of a few mistakes.

In this guide, we show you five strains that are easier to grow than most. If you are a beginner, we recommend either purchasing clones or seeds of one of these plants.

Please note that when we say a strain is sativa or indica, it is still a ‘hybrid’ of sorts. As far as experts are aware, there are no marijuana plants that are 100% indica or sativa.

Best Weed for Beginners

In reality, there’s no single answer to the question, “What is the best strain for beginner growers ?” Whether you are looking for a sativa or indica for beginners, the best strain is the one that fully addresses your needs.

If you intend to grow cannabis plants with dense buds for recreational use, then you may want a sativa-dominant marijuana strain with uplifting and energizing effects. However, if you are a medicinal cannabis consumer looking to alleviate the symptoms of your condition, growing cannabis plants with a high CBD content may be best for you.

Useful tricks and tips. …

Another essential factor to consider is whether you will be growing indoors or outdoors. Depending on the marijuana strain, indoor cultivation can limit the number of cannabis plants that you can grow in a single harvest. Therefore, if you consume a lot of cannabis, why not try cultivating one of the strains in this article that provides growers with high yields.

If you are looking specifically for a marijuana strain that thrives indoors or outdoors, then check out the ones we listed above. As an added bonus, we’ve included five more of our favorite top-shelf cannabis strains below that are great for starting points for novice growers. So, without further ado, here are, in our opinion, five of the easiest marijuana strains to cultivate.

1 – Blue Dream (Sativa)

At one time, Blue Dream was the most popular strain in the world. Even today, this sativa-dominant (60%) strain is desired. This is primarily because of its ability to provide users with a quick ‘pick me up’ during the day.

It is a cross of Super Silver Haze and a Blueberry indica. With a THC content of up to 24%, Blue Dream is exceptionally potent. However, its 2% CBD content means it offers several potential medical benefits.

There are many reasons why Blue Dream is such an excellent option for novice growers. One is its high resistance to root rot and powdery mildew. These are two of the most common issues found in any grow room and can destroy a crop if left untreated.

It will grow into a tall plant and is extremely easy to grow indoors. If you elect to grow Blue Dream outside, it is a slightly tougher task. This strain has a sensitivity to extreme climate changes. When outdoors, it is also susceptible to an infestation of red spider mites, because it offers a delightfully sweet scent.

Indoor growers could benefit from an average yield of approximately 21 ounces per square meter. The flowering period is 9-10 weeks. If you grow Blue Dream outside, it will yield up to 21 ounces per plant and is ready for harvest in October.

2 – Dutch Treat (Indica)

This classic marijuana strain comes from Amsterdam. It is an indica-dominant (80%) hybrid that offers a sweet taste. Its THC content is between 18% and 25%. When you first use it, you will feel as if you are soaring through the air. The cerebral high hits you quickly and provides you with a sense of euphoria.

Dutch Treat is a strain that prefers being grown indoors. It responds well to a hydroponics system, although a good soil environment should ensure that it thrives. Even amateur growers find Dutch Treat easy to cultivate. You are better off only trying to grow it outdoors if you live in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) because the region’s climate is ideal.

You may have read a few guides that suggest Dutch Treat offers high yields, but the reality is different. If you grow indoors, it will take 8-9 weeks for the strain to flower. However, its average return of 12 ounces per square meter planted is well below the rest of this list. Should you decide to grow outdoors, the yield is just eight ounces per plant on average. Dutch Treat is usually ready for harvest in late September.

3 – Green Crack (Sativa)

This is another outstanding Californian strain that was initially called Green Kush. However, Snoop Dogg had a taste. He famously declared that it provided an uplifting high akin to what you might get from crack. Consequently, he renamed this sativa-dominant (75%) strain. As well as benefiting from high energy once consumed, Green Crack’s sweet citrus aroma is heavenly.

Green Crack maintains the upbeat effects associated with sativas. However, its indica genetics ensure it offers a high yield of 18 ounces per square meter indoors. It also has a rapid flowering time of 7-9 weeks.

If you grow it outdoors, the return is 20 ounces per plant. It has a harvest date of late September or early October. If you decide to grow Green Crack outdoors, be wary of its capacity to stretch.

It is also essential to keep humidity in your grow room on the low side of recommendations. This plant is sensitive to powdery mildew. If you cultivate it outside, bear in mind that Green Crack thrives in a Mediterranean climate.

One possible issue with Green Crack is availability. It is only available in clone form, which means growers on the West Coast may find it hard to track it down. Its THC content ranges from moderate at 13% to high at 21%. The euphoric head high you’ll feel after using Green Crack will make all your hard work worth it!

4 – GG4 (A Hybrid Cannabis Strain)

Also known as Gorilla Glue #4, this 50/50 hybrid has an extremely high THC content of at least 25%. It provides you with an exceedingly powerful and euphoric high along with a strong aroma.

GG4 is a cross of Sour Dubb, Chem’s Sister, and Chocolate Diesel. The strain has won numerous Cannabis Cup awards. Now, it is possible to grow it at home in states where cultivation is legal.

The bushy pattern of GG4 means you can grow it in a tiny room. This is especially the case if you use the Screen of Green (SCROG) technique. It is relatively easy to grow because it requires fewer nutrients than most strains. In general, it is best to cultivate Gorilla Glue #4 indoors. Even so, GG4 can thrive in a warm climate when growing outdoors.

For indoor growers, GG4 will provide up to 18 ounces per square meter, and its flowering time is 8-9 weeks. If you grow outdoors, it produces up to 21 ounces per plant with a harvest date of mid-October. GG4 also offers high resin production, making it a clear favorite for users looking to investigate the effects of concentrate. When it’s time for harvest, bring an extra pair of scissors because wet trimming clogs up the blades quickly.

5 – Cinex (Sativa)

Cinex is a slightly sativa-dominant (60%) strain with a THC content of between 22% and 25%. It is a cross of Vortex and Cinderella 99. It has a reputation for providing users with a burst of energy that instantly makes them feel more productive and creative. Cinex’s parents ensure it is an easy to grow strain.

For example, Cinderella 99 plants are bushy with high yields and a potent THC level. For novice growers, the Cinderella 99 traits of Cinex mean you can grow it in a small grow room using the SCROG method. As a bonus, it possesses a high resistance to mildew and mold. Therefore, amateurs will get away with a few mistakes.

You will find that Cinex regularly grows in the PNW region. This fact means it is weather resistant and capable of thriving in a cool climate. It is even easy to trim!

If you grow Cinex indoors, it has a flowering time of 7-9 weeks. It yields around 19 ounces per square meter. If you cultivate it outdoors, it should generate an average of 16 ounces of bud per plant. Cinex is typically ready to harvest by the beginning of October.

Final Thoughts on the Right Marijuana for Novices to Grow

If you love weed, there are few things more satisfying than growing your own. There are a host of advanced strains that will pose a challenge to even the most experienced and talented growers. If you fall into the category of ‘novice,’ we recommend trying to grow one of the five strains mentioned above.

Even top-shelf buds are easy to develop when you find the right strain.

Remember, marijuana strains vary regarding color, potency, and flavor. Even when you find the right strain, there are a host of external factors to consider. Examples include flowering time, and whether the plants grow best inside or outside. You must also consider the temperature of your grow room, the amount of nutrients you have to provide, and the humidity of the environment.

When choosing a marijuana strain to grow, choose ones capable of handling cold weather, pest infestations, disease, and mold. Beginners should also look towards autoflowering strains because they can go from seed to harvest in just two months.
