I just came across this gem in MaRo’s blog.

Is this as good as it seems?

I usually don’t play color hosers and the like, but this effect seems particularly strong, if narrow.

Do any of you play this? Any success or failure stories?

Seems very narrow and highly dependent on your playgroup and even the seating arrangement (you’ll want to sit just upstream of a blue player with lots of instants).

Well, maybe if your stuff gets countered a lot.

I like a fair few color-hosing cards. Carpet of Flowers can pretty consistently be Sol Ring levels of acceleration and does more in the late game. Snake Pit gives a lot of tokens for a passive enchantment. Reap and Compost can give a ton of cards.

But Seedtime just seems too narrow. Not only do you have to be playing against a blue player, you have to get them to do something blue on your turn, with mana up to Seedtime with. And if you pull it off, you get an extra turn you weren’t able to prepare properly for so probably can’t take great advantage of.

The card was designed as a Fact or Fiction counter. Wait for them to FoF on your endstep, then take an extra turn and land a huge threat while they’re tapped down. That diminishes greatly in potential in a multiplayer game. You’re better off running like, Summoning Trap, since it will trigger off of the same stuff usually (your spells getting countered) but has an effect if you can’t do that.

It’s a time walk if your opponent is playing blue. Extremely limited, though.

Along the same veins of Teferi’s Response. Hugely strong effect, but extremely limited situations where it is applicable.

It’s a card that I’m itching to include in Wort, the Raidmother. No one expects extra turns from the R G deck!

Can you cast Seedtime as a response to a blue spell, e.g. overloaded Cyclonic Rift?
